Japan’s prime minister has demanded an explanation from Beijing over the fatal stabbing of a schoolboy in the second knife attack on Japanese children in China in recent months. The 10-year-old boy was stabbed by a man on his way to class Wednesday about 200 meters (650 feet) from the gates of the Japanese school in the southern city of Shenzhen,

The stabbing is the second violent incident targeting Japanese school students in China in the span of three months. On June 24, a man attacked a Japanese school bus in the eastern city of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, killing a Chinese bus attendant, who attempted to save the students, and injuring two others.

Japanese firms said some big firms in China have given Japanese employees and their families the option to be relocated home at the company’s expense, or are considering doing so
