The developers of the newest game in the Legend of Zelda series give a behind-the-scenes look at Echoes of Wisdom and its development.

Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom's deeper lore involving Ganon and the Triforce suggests numerous possible placements for it on the Legend of Zelda timeline.

We had a great time with The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom earlier this year, but that's not to say that it's without its faults. A fair few of us got frustrated with the variable frame rate and the Echoes menu system could often feel like a scroll too far.

Echoes of Wisdom may have broken several franchise traditions, but it also revived a tradition that the last two mainline installments largely forewent: classic dungeons. Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom's dungeons are very similar to how they used to be in Zelda's heyday,

However, because Zelda is the protagonist in Echoes of Wisdom, the idea was originally that she would be the only character with no dialogue, allowing Link to have lines for the first time. “Actually, Link was speaking at first,” Aonuma confirmed.

While the game has now proven to be a hit with fans, 'The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom' director Eiji Aonuma thought it "might be close to impossible" to successfully revive the traditional top-down style for the title.

At one point, Nintendo's famously silent lead Link was going to have lines of dialogue in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
