Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar had been called by the name tag "Thala,” which means The Head or Leader, by his fans after the film Dheena was released back in 2001. However, cut to 20 years later, the actor made an official announcement in 2021 asking everyone to refrain from using the same.

Looks like Kamal Haasan taken a leaf our of Ajith Kumar's book and has requested both the fans and media to drop any prefix to his name.

The statement read, "I have always felt a deep sense of gratitude over being bestowed with endearing titles such as Ulaganayagan, among others. Such accolades, given by the people and recognised by esteemed colleagues and admirers, have always been humbling, and I've been genuinely moved by your love in conferring it upon me."

Kamal Haasan has been an iconic sensation for countless audiences across the globe. Such has been the amount of love that he has received over time, that people have even used the prefix of high praise Ulaganayagan to refer to him.

I humbly request that all my fans, the media, members of film fraternity, party cadre and fellow Indians, to here on after, refer to me simply as Kamal Haasan or Kamal or KH. Thank you again for your gestures of kindness over the years.
